Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ's)
If you have other questions not mentioned here, just give us a call and we will be happy to answer any questions.

What Can I Expect in my First Therapy Session?

Your first session is an opportunity for us to get to know each other. We’ll talk about what brings you to therapy, your goals, and any relevant history. You’re welcome to share at your own pace—there’s no pressure to have everything figured out.  Being nervous about your first session is very normal and often we are nervous too.

How Long Will my Sessions Be and How Often Will we Meet?

Sessions are typically 45–60 minutes long. Most clients start with weekly sessions, but we can adjust frequency based on your needs and goals.  Like any medical professional, we "prescribe" an ideal treatment plan, but we also recognize that we may differ in opinion about this plan.  We will work hard to ensure we find a schedule that will work and meet your treatment goals.

Is Therapy Confidential?

Yes. Your privacy is very important. Everything discussed in therapy is confidential, with a few legal exceptions (such as risk of harm to yourself or others, or court orders), which will be explained during your first session.  If there is someone you want us to talk to on your behalf, we will ask for a release of information to ensure we only dicuss the concerns you want disclosed.

How Do I Know if Therapy is Right for me?

If you're feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or simply want a space to better understand yourself, therapy can be helpful. You don’t need to be in crisis to benefit from therapy.  Sometimes you may not find your "perfect match" on the first try and that is normal, but this can also be resolved, and we are more than willing to help ensure we do find the right match.
