You Are Not Alone
Life can feel overwhelming. Sometimes you know exactly what is wrong. Other times, you simply know that something has to change. You may be struggling with anxiety, stress, trauma, depression, relationship difficulties, burnout, life transitions, or simply feeling disconnected from yourself. Maybe you've been holding everything together for everyone else while quietly wondering how much longer you can keep doing it. You don't have to figure it all out alone.

Counseling That Meets You Where You Are
We support children, teens, and adults through a wide range of emotional and relational challenges, including:
Our therapists use evidence-based approaches including CBT, EMDR, mindfulness-based therapy, solution-focused therapy, and family systems work.
Therapy That Looks at the Whole Person
We believe your experiences, emotions, thoughts, behaviors, relationships, and body are all connected.
Our therapists use evidence-informed approaches while taking the time to understand what is happening beneath the surface.
Depending on your individual needs, treatment may incorporate trauma-informed care, somatic approaches, cognitive and behavioral strategies, mindfulness, and other therapeutic interventions.
We don't believe in one-size-fits-all therapy.
Why Should You Pick Us Instead of Someone Else?
We Don't Treat People Like They're on an Assembly Line.
You are not a number, a diagnosis, or another appointment on a schedule. We don't treat people like we work in a warehouse. We treat people for the individual they are.
Every person who walks through our doors has a different story, different experiences, different strengths, and different needs. We don't believe therapy should be a one-size-fits-all process. We take the time to understand you and work with you to create a therapeutic approach that makes sense for your life.
We Actually Care About the People We Serve.
We don't just work in the communities we serve—we live in them, too.
We care about the people who walk through our doors because we care about the communities we call home. When individuals and families are healthier, more connected, and better equipped to navigate life's challenges, our entire community becomes stronger.
Our goal extends beyond helping someone get through a difficult moment. We want to be part of building happier, healthier communities.
We Do This Because We Love It.
Mental health isn't just a business to us. We chose this profession because we genuinely care about people and believe in the difference that good therapy can make. We love watching people discover their strengths, understand themselves more deeply, develop new ways of coping, repair relationships, and realize that their circumstances don't have to define their future.
We Don't Claim to Know It All.
And we think that's important. There is always more to learn. Mental health is complex, people are complex, and no therapist has every answer. What we do claim is that we will be real, authentic, and honest with you. We will listen. We will continue learning. We will meet you where you are. And we will work alongside you rather than pretending that we have all the answers.
You're a Person First.
At After the Storm Counseling, we believe the most important part of therapy is the relationship between the therapist and the person sitting across from them. You deserve to be heard. You deserve to be understood. And you deserve care that recognizes you as the individual you are. That's what we strive to provide every day. Because we're not here to simply treat a diagnosis. We're here to help people.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is it normal to feel nervous about starting therapy?
Absolutely. Many people feel anxious or uncertain before their first appointment. Starting therapy is a new experience, and it’s completely normal to have questions or feel unsure about what to expect. Our therapists create a welcoming, supportive environment where you can move at your own pace and share only what feels comfortable.
Will my therapist judge me?
No. Our therapists are trained to provide a safe, compassionate, and nonjudgmental space where you can feel heard and respected. People come to therapy from all walks of life and for many different reasons, and you will be met with care—not judgment.
What happens in the first therapy session?
In your first session, your therapist will take time to get to know you—what brought you to therapy, what you’ve been struggling with, and what you’re hoping will be different in your life. You don’t need to have everything figured out or know exactly what to say. Your therapist will guide the conversation at a pace that feels comfortable for you.
Most importantly, the first session is about helping you feel supported, understood, and comfortable as you begin the process of therapy. Many clients leave their first session feeling a sense of relief simply from not carrying everything alone anymore.
Therapy doesn’t have to start with everything figured out. It just starts with reaching out. When you are ready, we are here. Schedule your first appointment.
