Privacy Policy

Last updated: 10/6/2026

At After the Storm Counseling, we know that reaching out for therapy is personal. This policy explains what information we collect through our website, how we use it, and the choices you have. It covers this website only. Information shared during therapy is protected under separate laws and our Notice of Privacy Practices, described below.

Information we collect

  • Information you give us. When you fill out a form, call, or email us, we collect what you share, such as your name, email address, phone number, and a short note about what brings you in.

  • Basic website data. Like most websites, ours automatically collects limited technical information, such as your browser type, device, the pages you visit, and approximately where you're visiting from. We use cookies and similar tools to do this.

How we use your information

  • To respond to your appointment request or question

  • To match you with a therapist and schedule your first visit

  • To follow up with you about your request

  • To understand how people use our website and improve it

  • To meet legal and professional requirements

What we don't do

  • We do not sell your personal information.

  • We do not use information from our contact forms for advertising.

Who we share information with
We share your information only with people who need it to help you, such as your assigned therapist and our scheduling staff, and with service providers who help us run our website and systems (for example, our website host and our secure client portal). We may also disclose information when the law requires it.

Please keep your message brief and non-clinical
Website forms and regular email are not fully secure channels. Please don't include detailed health information, diagnoses, or anything you wouldn't want others to see. Share those details with your therapist during your session or through our secure client portal. If you're in crisis, please call 988 or 911 instead of using this site.

Your therapy information
Information you share with your therapist as a client is protected by HIPAA, Ohio law, and professional ethics, and is covered by our Notice of Privacy Practices, which you'll receive when you become a client.

How we protect your information
We take reasonable steps to protect the information we collect, but no website or electronic communication can be guaranteed completely secure.

Cookies
You can control or delete cookies in your browser settings. Doing so may affect how parts of our site work.

Children
Our website is intended for adults and parents or guardians. If you are seeking services for a child, please have a parent or guardian contact us.

Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it was last changed.
